Lucia Fumero will present her latest work Universo normal in trio format at the Rincón del Jazz. Accompanied by Martín Leiton (double bass) and Juan Rodríguez Berbín (percussion), the Catalan pianist and singer offers us a very personal vision of understanding the world and music that crosses borders and genres and that she herself defines as “a door to my imagination . That’s why it’s normal. And that’s why it’s universe. It is a concept that, while inspiring magic, something enormous like the universe, concentrates on that which is very basic, rooted, such as folk music”.
Born in Barcelona, of Argentine and Swiss roots, she began studying classical music at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona, where she graduated with the Professional Degree in Music in 2010. She then traveled to the Netherlands to continue studying and working. There, at the University of Music in Rotterdam, he studied a higher degree in modern music specializing in Latin music. He is now in his last year at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMuC) specializing in jazz piano.
He has participated as a musician in many different formations, of different styles, and now he publishes his first album with original music. He often collaborates with the new generation of musicians from Barcelona such as Eva Fernández, Rita Payés, Las Karamba, Nico Roig, Pol Batlle or Martín Meléndez, among others, as well as forming an occasional duo with Horacio Fumero.
Interested both in songs with voice and lyrics and in instrumental music, Lucia Fumero expresses herself with a marked rhythm of charisma and personality as well as impressionistic, two apparently opposite concepts. But when he composes, everything flows, dances and inevitably captivates.
Normal Universe (Seed Jazz 001) was published in November 2020 on physical and digital media, and opens the new Seed Jazz collection with which the Seed label wants to give visibility to the young scene linked to this genre. Fumero is accompanied both on record and live by two high-level musicians on the Spanish jazz scene: Martín Leiton on double bass and lioness, and Juan Rodríguez Berbín (Seward) on drums and percussion.
